Inspired by poet Leonard Cohen’s words, “There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in,” this Market of Stars design celebrates the beauty of imperfection and the way our experiences shape us.
The artwork was created using several pieces of 18th-century Delft tile, including two intricate Italianate landscape scenes. The original cracks and aged patina were intentionally preserved, reflecting the idea that every flaw tells a story. Trim details draw from an 1867 British book on classical ornamentation and an earthenware plaque from the Netherlands (1780), while the delicate ginger jar on the sleeve is inspired by a 1700s French watercolor painting — a stunning fusion of history, artistry, and meaning.

This piece was meant to be worn with attitude and heart! There are so many rich colours to play with — layer it over reds and mustards, or blues and greens. Market of Starts loves to wear this one over a simple black tee and jeans with the belt tied at the back for a cool arthouse vibe! But it also looks incredibly romantic and beautiful just slipped over top of a dress with a pair of heels, or tied at the waist with a jumpsuit. And before you leave the house, prepare yourself for compliments ;)
