Airy and ethereal, the Folklore Kimono by Market of Stars is a romantic nod to the Arts and Crafts movement and the beauty of non-finito — art that remains a work in progress.

The stunning Bird-of-Peace motif was created from original embroidery hand-stitched by Vancouver Island fiber artist Kim Donohoe, who used single-ply thread to capture every intricate detail of the plumage. Inspired by a 19th-century embroidery panel found in the British Museum, it’s a true work of art.

The background and trim panels are drawn from three separate works by famed British textile designer William Morris (1885). Each piece remains unfinished, intentionally preserving Morris’s visible pencil and ink sketch marks — a celebration of the beauty found in the creative process itself.

The result is a wearable fairytale — a timeless blend of artistry, history, and romance.
